Styles of Yoga

Explore the styles of yoga Rachel offers here! Some styles can be paired together within one class. For example: a 1-hour class could include a 15-minute Meditation and 45-minute Flow! Choose your own adventure!

  • Woman in white workout clothes performing a yoga balance pose

    Flow

Vinyasa Flow invites students to connect movement with breath. Class begins with gentle warm ups, then builds heat at a quicker pace through moderate to advanced yoga poses, and ends with a cool down sequence and integrative rest.

  • A woman practicing yoga in a yoga pose, kneeling with hands pressed together in prayer position, wearing olive green athletic wear.

    Slow Flow

This gentler style offers students beginner to moderate-level postures as well as more time in each posture so that students can find their ideal shape and settle into it. Class starts by warming up the body, building heat, then cooling down for rest.

  • A plus-size woman with pink hair, tattoos, and a light blue sports bra and shorts stretching on a beige background.

    Fascial Release

In this style of yoga, postures are all low to the ground and are held for a few minutes at a time. Each pose attends to the fascia or tissues in the body that can hold tension and cause pain. The breath is utilized as a tool for further release.

  • Elderly woman lying on her back with her head and shoulders supported by a towel and a cushion, practicing restorative yoga or relaxation pose on a yoga mat.

    Restorative

For a Restorative class, I offer just a handful of postures held for 3-10 minutes each. Students get as physically comfy as possible on props and the earth, then use the breath to melt down further. NOTE: only available to private, in-person classes as it requires props

  • A man practicing meditation in a seated cross-legged position on a cushion in a bright, minimal living room with a sofa and cushions in the background.

    Meditation

This is the entirely internal practice of noticing your thoughts, then returning your attention to a single source: often the breath, although I also offer guided visualizations and stories that elicit awareness and ease. Can be seated or laying down.

Offered Your Way

Group

A group class requires 3 or more students, consisting of all adults (18+), all children (4-17), or a mix of both. Group yoga can be great for special occasions, such as a birthday or pre-wedding celebration, a company retreat, an employee benefit offering, or for your next event!

Private

Private yoga is for the student seeking one to one instruction with Rachel. This type of class affords more time to address your unique body and movements, your questions and feedback during class, as well as a more controlled environment, since it’s just us two.

Online

Prefer the comfort and convenience of your own space to practice yoga? I use Zoom to bring tailored group or private classes to you! You can take class from any location that has a stable WiFi connection, and feels secure enough to turn inward and find some movement on your mat.

In-Person

Practice face-to-face, either in your home or an approved upon location that offers safety and silence. I do not reserve nor fund the use of public lands (such as parks or recreational centers) for the purpose of my classes. However, you may do so independently if you so choose for our class.
